Baselworld 2010: Tag Heuer Unveils New Chronograph Tech Watchmaking giant Tag Heuer unveils the first device to use its new column-wheel automatic chronograph movement.

Tag calls the technology a "21st century design." It has been working on this new engine for its watches for four years. The new chronograph was first demoed in December. It is an improved version of the company's Caibre 1887.

TAG Heuer Pendulum Concept Watch unveiled at Baselworld 2010 TAG Heuer introduces the TAG Heuer Pendulum Concept, the first-ever mechanical movement without hairspring at the Baselworld 2010 tonight as earlier hinted.
A coiled strip of fine metal alloy, the hairspring provides usually the torque necessary for the balance wheel to oscillate and regulate its frequency. The mechanical hairspring has three serious design limitations: a mass that makes it sensitive to gravity and deforms its geometry; a material that makes it sensitive to thermal expansion; and a divergence between its geometric centre and its centre of mass.

French watchmaker Christophe Claret has unveiled a revised version of the DualTow NightEagle that came out to the market last year. It is aesthetically pretty much the same device, except this version has an all-black coloring and more transparent casing to show off the inner workings of this hand-wound watch.

Tag Heuer Silverstone Bonhams announces the sale of the ‘Haslinger Collection’ of fine and rare Heuer watches on Wednesday 15 December at Bonhams New Bond Street, London. These 81 watches in the collection represent the ‘best of the best’ which is why TAG Heuer is to showcase highlights of them as part of their anniversary celebrations. The watches range in value from £1,500 to £15,000.
TAG Heuer has also created a unique watch especially for this auction. It is based on the newly launched Silverstone model and the dial will incorporate Jack Heuer’s signature, a true one-off for the discerning collector. All proceeds will be donated to the Green Cross International charity. Arno Haslinger will also donate his original Silverstone to be auctioned for this cause and Bonhams will add a further 20% to the hammer price and an additional £5,000 in support of the charity.

Casio and Kyocera together have announced that Casio will release a limited-edition watch under its highest-end MR-G line that uses Kyocera's recrystallized ruby. That technology had previous only been used in "traditional jewelry applications" (bracelets, necklaces, etc).
