The New SLR Chronograph
Tag Heuer holds a reputation of its own as a reputable and classic watchmaker. Why wouldn’t it be a surprise that the Swiss company teamed with Mercedes Benz to create the SLR Chronograph? The SLR Chronograph is a world-class watch that includes an automatic chronograph.Rumored to be “inspired” by the Mercedes vehicle of the same name, the Tag Heuer SLR arrives with Calibre 17 movement, a patented mechanism that positions the buttons next to the bezel and a dual bezel design that houses both the mileposts (purposed to calculate the exact speed all the way up to 400 km/h) and the timer to count down. The later is “handy for qualifying sessions and rally-styled timed stages.
Tag Heuer and Mercedes have, thus far, produced three products together. And who knows what lies in the future. But, for now this style is limited to 3,500, which will be available in June.

Wristwatch With No Strap?
“What in the wurl...?” as my mother would exclaim had she seen this idiosyncratic time piece. Heck, that’s what I said when I first laid eyes on it. No wrist band, no magnet… nothing. This strapless device is held on via skin piercing. But, woest to the man (or woman) who gets it snagged while passing a doorway, or while running to catch the bus or train. Ouch!

Seiko's New SKZ213K1
Somebody’s been dipping in the Blue Monster’s porridge. Seiko’s Blue Monster a/k/a the Seiko SKZ213K1, has a duplicate mold out there on the market. Apparently, there’s a market for this limited edition. There are some differences in the two, however. The actual Monster’s blue face contrast nicely with the light green lume and the red and blue bezel makes an appealing. Its twin similarly has a blue face, but it surrounded by a dull steel bezel that doesn’t lend much personality. Yet, like the Monster, it’s a handsome watch.
While the Blue Monster arrives linked in a steel bracelet, the mirror watch is dressed in a black rubber band. Of course, the duplicate prices at $29.00 if you buy it outright on eBay. But, to get the real thing it’s going to hit you for $400. We be real with yourself.

Abstract LED Watch JLr7 by e35
Japanese LED Watch shop Tokyoflash offers a very abstract new LED watch from e35 dubbed JLr7.
The watch is all brushed, gunmetal black stainless steel with either blue or green LEDs. The all black crystal face has a repeating geometric pattern which displays a computerized animation sequence with a random pattern of lights and then displays the time when the button is pressed. Between 6pm & Midnight the watch animates automatically every 15min.
This combined with the 90 degree angled shapes gives the watch a really abstract feel.

The TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Concept Watch Video
After being mesmerized by their video (check it out here), we had to undoubtedly do a write-up on Tag Heuer’s innovative Monaco V4 .This swank’n lank’n watch is not only a conversation piece, but captures features like a belt driven “oscillating linear weight that falls back and forth within the central shaft transporting energy to the four ball bearing barrels.” Beyond contemporary, this complex, yet handsomely crafted watch is topped with beveled edge sapphire glass, and strapped to an alligator with folding buckle band. It can be brought to you sheathed in a stainless steel case.
We reported the first time about the Monaco V4 in 2004.
Slap that fine watch on our wrists, along with a top hat and a cane, and we’re on way to having a pretty ‘spiffy’ evening. Have a smashing week!

New Philippe Starck O-Ring Digi Watch for Fossil
Star designer Philippe Starck did a new watch for Fossil. The Fossil O-ring Digi is for the ladies.
In a ring shaped display, the hours are displayed as numbers while the minutes are displayed in segments. As time goes by, the segments build making a complete ring every hour. The center is completely see-through.
The O-ring watch comes in white (photo), black and grey. Fossil sells the fashion forward O-ring watch for $110.
I actually still prefer the first Philippe Starck Fossil watches that he did in 2004. This style is not selling on the Fossil store anymore. The LED variations came a bit later and is still selling.
The Fossil O-ring watch measures 41mm x 11mm. First seen on Gizmodo.

Eterna's Flip Wristwatch
This is a sharp new watch from Eterna. It is a 46MM equipped with a ETA 2897. Unfortunately though this sleek wristwatch will currently not be available in the US. Eterna is another great company with poor American distributorship picks. With virtually no U.S. brand recognition anymore, but in my opinion they know how to make a cool watch.I think the design of this watch is truly different than a lot of designs out there and it's rather disappointing that it is not widely available.

The World's Smallest LED Watch
Japanese online watch store Tokyoflash just informed us about a new LED Wristwatch, which is supposed to be the world's smallest LED watch.
Tokyoflash should have the overview of all LED watches so I believe them if they say the Retsu by Saishin LED watch is the world's smallest LED watch. Measurements of this cryptic LED watch are 25mm x 30mm x 8mm and the weight is 40g. The metal dial features a clean design and the watch comes with a black suede strap.
The small size comes at a price. This LED watch has 10 LED dots to tell time. You have to push a button and then the watch displays in sequence the digits fo the current time. It does not get much more minimalist than this.
Tokyoflash sells the Retsu by Saishin for $127.08 with free world-wide shipping.
The Retsu comes with either blue and green LEDs.

A Watch That Keeps You Healthy
Nowadays they are making electronics that do everything to make our lives easier. Well how about a watch that keeps you healthy? Philip Stein has introduced a line of high-end timepieces which combine style and a special Teslar chip.Developed several years ago, Teslar technology was designed to emit a signal that shields live cells from ambient electromagnetic fields. This protection was proven by its developers to enhance the immune system in humans exposed to it.
The "Teslar Effect" claims to have provided its wearers with the benefits of "deeper, more restful sleep; more calm and less tension; improved concentration; increased levels of energy; an overall improvement in well-being."

The Patek Phillippe 5104 Wristwatch
Patek is a respected name in the watch industry and it's easy to see why with their new Phillippe 5104 wristwatch. Patek is ready to move on and create more interesting and exciting watches, watches that create a statement of the people who wear them, as Patek says, “This isn’t your father’s Patek”. This watch includes sapphires in the dial, and sterling silver and 18K gold on the case.Quote from TimeZone "Starting with the dial side it is easy to see this is not a typical dial. Instead there is a dial ring, or chapter ring, with markers for the hours, minutes, and the date. The chapter ring is actually a part of the dial coated via a blue metalization process. Four small round sapphire dials occupy most of the rest of the dial area. At 12 is the year dial that shows the leap year cycle of four years, at 3 are the months, at 6 is the moon phase indication, and at 9 are the days. Now, you might at first glance be inclined to think these small dials actually rotate but they do not. Instead there is a small black hand under each dial that highlights the appropriate markings on the stationary dials."

Now It's a Bracelet... Now It's a Watch
This is just about the coolest watch I have seen. The new concept watch, the DD101, is a fine collaboration of art and technology. The watch takes advantage of the flexibility of electroluminescent display technology. The stunning digital readout is hidden in an oversized bangle, simply pressing the sides causes the time to pop up. This is a very innovative way to revolutionize the watch industry by marketing a watch as a bracelet that tells time.Pelikon UK designed the printed segmented electroluminescent (pSEL) touch displays and the funky DD101 watch design comes from o.d.m.
“The DD101 is more than just a fashion watch, it fuses cutting edge display technology with an eye-catching design,” said Paul So, Chairman, o.d.m. design & marketing ltd. “Pelikon’s pSEL technology has allowed us to create a product that not only has low power consumption, but also offers a bright, lightweight flexible display, setting it aside from a standard wrist watch.”

The New Equalizer From Tokyoflash
The #1 unique watch retailer, Tokyoflash, is at it again. Unlike your standard time-piece the new Equalizer watch uses around seventy LED's to tell the time using either green or blue LED's. The LED's will light up once a minute to display the time, all that's involved is some simple calculations. However, the makers of this unique watch don't seem to be too concerned with practical uses. In an era where cell phones and PDAs can easily be used as time pieces, the makers have focused upon design and aesthetics.
The makers are confident that this watch will revolutionize how some watches are made. The watch was in research and development for full year and re-engineered 9 times. The retail price of the watch is ¥17,800 which is around $150.

A Watch With No Numbers?
Neolog has created a new innovative watch that will be useable and understandable in all cultural frontiers. It's the new A-24 II a watch that tells time without numbers. The method by which this watch tells time is a new definition of time. Designer Arman Emami said he wanted to replace analogue time so he created Neolog time.
Rather than reading the number on the display you determine the time by the number of lines in each row. The watch was almost designed more for elegance rather than functionality. So while it may be a little more work to tell what time it is, you'll get a lot of glances when you walk down the street.

Mr. Jones Watches - Seriously??
These are unquestionably the most unusual watches I've ever seen. It's not because they're oddly shaped or have some kind of weird technology, but rather because of what is displayed on them. For example, you've got the Avidas, which tells you how stressed out you are. Then there's the Fallax, a wrist-worn polygraph. Who doesn't need one of those?Of course, my personal favorite is the Inveratus, which keeps track of time by telling you what's currently on TV. Oh, my. New Eleeno Bingo Wristwatch from Japan
Japanese online watch store Tokyoflash informed us about a new uniquely styled wristwatch from Eleeno.
The Bingo by EleeNo features takes its inspiration from a Bingo card. The all black watch face features dots showing the time. This Japanese watch is simpler to read the most of the LED watches we reported about. Simpler also means that you only can approximately the minutes. The Movado With Lots of Bravado
Okay. So there's no fancy technology built in to this new Mavado watch, the 800, but it is certainly a symbol of wealth, or of someone who blew two months' rent to buy a watch. It comes with either a steel or rubber band, which reminds me of my first watch in college (I had to hold it together with a rubber band).Apparently the big selling point for this piece is that Tom Brady (the NFL player, not the classic TV dad) has been sporting it and has nothing but good things to say about this expensive watch.
It'll run you a cool $1,000. If you buy one, let your dealer know that you found out about it from WristDreams. Maybe they'll send me a free one.

Astronomical Watch Helps You Find Constellations
Sure, you can have one of those fancy wrist-worn PCs or a watch with Bluetooth capabilities, but this watch has a feature that's a little bit different. There is a built-in mini planisphere directly on the watch face that shows you a guide to all the constellations in the sky.The visualization changes dynamically depending on the date. Since your location obviously is a big factor as well, the watch only works if you're in North America. In addition, it sports a compass as well so you know exactly which direction to be looking to find the celestial bodies. Since you'd need to be using this a lot in the dark, it has a super luminescent dial that can glow for up to 3 hours straight. It's available now for $49.99

Cool New Equalizer High Frequency 2 Japanese Wristwatch
Japanese Watch Shop TokyoFlash just informed us about a new very, very cool new High Frequency Equalizer Wristwatch.
The first High Frequency watch appeared last year in September. The new High Frequency 2 features a 3D style equalizer display. The animated display uses cool matrix style green lights.
The Equalizer High Frequency 2 features a very theatrical way to show the time. The display pushes up the top row of lights and the light spots float back down in a real equalizer effect, finally all the lights fall down off the face of the watch to leave only two lights to indicate the time for 5 seconds, then the two lights also trail off. The watch uses little battery power despite the animation effects. An Advanced LCD display using only 1 LED to light the entire watch is used. The face of the watch is actually mirrored.
Measurements of the face are 47x29xx11mm. The Equalizer Frequency 2 comes in silver and black with a metal strap.
TokyoFlash sells the new Frequency 2 for a reduced $141.07. Offer is valid until Friday June 2nd 5pm.

Stylish and Sporty Tissot T-Race Chronograph Watch
Tissot designed the T-Race watch around mountain bike and high speed motorcycle elements.
Every element of the T-Race recalls these two-wheeled sports, from the crown protection and bezel with its slanting ventilation shafts, inspired by the braking discs, to the rubber tire-track bracelet, the speedometer-like counters on the dial and the very material of the case itself in a new synthetic mix high in carbon fiber.
Tissot has a good hand in designing stylish and modern watches, that still have the class of traditional Swiss watch makers. Tissot is in my opinion the Swiss watch maker for the young generation, that is not happy with Swatch watches.
The Tissot T-Race comes in various styles with different colored faces and wristbands.
Ashford sells the T-Race for Men for a low $245.00.

Crazy and Unique Japanese Watches
|
TokyoFlash a japanese online store, features a Unique collection of Wrist Watches.
The designs of some of them are just crazy and push the definition of how to show time. The one in the photo is called "Pimp". The time is displayed in 3 colors. The left side represents the hours and can be read by looking at the digits to the left of them. The minutes are displayed in 12 rows of 5, in green, yellow, and red, with each row representing 5 minutes, each light representing a minute. To count the minutes after 15 minutes it is easiest to start by looking at the competed red row(s) and then start counting from there. Each completed red row is a 15, 30, 45, 60 minute indicator. Does not get more complicated to read time, but it definitly looks cool and for $129.00 this is an affordable head-turner. Check out the TokyoFlash Store for more out-there wrist watches. TokyoFlash ships to the US and Europe. |
