Harry Winston unveiled the Opus 9 stunning timepiece at the BaselWorld 2009. The hyper luxury watch (see price below) uses two diamond chains to tell the time instead of hands. Each chain is encrusted with 33 baguette cut diamonds. Mandarin colored garnets mark the minutes and hours.
I usually do not like diamond encrusted watches, but the Harry Winston Opus 9 has a stunning minimalist design that is really cool. I even could imagine wearing the Opus 9 if I would be Bill Gates.

Bell & Ross is usually sticking very closely to their established design language for their watches. At the BaselWorld 2009 B&R now unveiled the Instrument BR01 Airborne that features a skull on the dial.
The Bell & Ross Instrument BR01 Airborne is a limited edition of 500 pieces featuring a steel case with black carbon powder coating.

In case you are wondering, the BaselWorld 2009 is still underway (until April 2nd). There is just not that much to report about. The Tag Heuer Monaco fest is still the only really exciting thing from BaselWorld 2009.
Seiko has also announced some new stuff that is at least a bit interesting. The Seiko Ananta unveiled at the BaselWorld 2009 is an exclusive collection of luxury timepieces with Spring Drive and high-grade mechanical movements, targeted at those who truly understand and appreciate fine watchmaking.

2009 marks possibly the year of the most releases of new Tag Heuer Monaco watches. Besides the Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 and the Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition and the Monaco 24 Concept, Tag Heuer unveils at the BaselWorld 2009 also the new Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Gulf Limited Edition.

Similar to the Monaco Calibre 12 the Calibre 12 version of the Monaco Gulf keeps the original look but adds new technology and a crystal back window.

Most likely Tag Heuer has the best story to tell at the BaselWorld 2009. The Swiss Sports and High-tech inspired watch maker celebrates the Monaco watch's 40th birthday. Tag Heuer already unveiled new cool Monaco watches for 2009 including the Monaco Calibre 12, Tag Heuer Monaco Gulf Calibre 12 and the Monaco 1969 Original.
Now at the BaselWorld 2009 Tag Heuer also unveiled a new Monaco concept watch dubbed Monaco 24.
