Glycine’s new watches prove that largeness does not necessarily have to mean a lot of weight. Thanks to the high quality materials titanium and carbon fibre, the round AIRMAN 7 and the square AIRMAN 7 Plaza Mayor weigh about a quarter to a third less than their predecessors.

The Glycine AIRMAN Chrono 08 displays three time zones and has an integrated chronograph.

the 24-hour rotating bezel which is a novelty for Glycine as it lies under the sapphire glass: it is separated into a lower white part for the day and an upper black part for the night. Thanks to the protection provided by the crystal, it was possible to use luminous material, like on the dial. This makes the third time zone luminescent, too. The rotating bezel can be adjusted with the screw down crown at 8 o’clock.

BaselWorld 2008: Hamilton X-Copter Hamilton introduced the dramatic X-Copter wristwatch at the BaselWorld 2008. The 44mm Hamilton X-Copter takes inspiration from helicopter flying. It actually features practical Fahrenheit/Celsius temperature converter and ‘ascends’ to a Maximum Take-off Weight (M.T.O.W.) calculator.

The bezel bears fine markings indicating compass bearings, temperature scales and seconds - cockpit style. These are contrasted with easily visible key numbers for rapid orientation, assisted by the pointed arrow hands showing the way. Orange touches add dynamism and are reminiscent of helicopter navigation. There is even a bold letter ‘H’ at 6 o’clock – the ultimate miniaturized ‘helipad’ – and a cut out propeller at the rear of the case to reveal the automatic ‘motor’ at work.

The Breitling Avenger Seawolf Chrono is the world's only chronograph to be both watertight and operational at a depth of 3,300 feet (1000 meters).

Whereas most chronographs cannot be activated while diving so as to prevent water seeping in through the pushpieces, Breitling has achieved a major technical breakthrough by developing the magnetic pushpiece principle, involving controls operated through the metal of the case and thus avoiding any direct contact between the pushpiece and the movement.
