The stylish plastic Swatch is celebrating its 25th birthday today March 1st. Nicolas Hayek introduced 12 plastic watches in 1983 and started a revolution in the Swiss watch making business, which was not doing well back then.

Swatch is the most successful wristwatch with 370 million sold. 5,000 Swatch models have been released in the last 25 years.

Swiss Watch maker Zenith introduced several very cool watches in their DEFY XTREME 2008 line.
The Defy Xtreme Tourbillon ZERO-G El Primero is a mean looking master piece that actually defies gravity. ZENITH has devised a Zero-G (zero gravity) system. The gyroscope cage Tourbillon comprises an escapement mounted on cardan joints rather like marine chronometers. The instrument, which is sensitive to changes of position, is kept in a constant horizontal position, thereby ensuring optimal amplitude for the spiral balance-wheel.

Breitling introduces the new Superocean Héritage chronographe.

Casio introduces a limited edition Casio G-Shock to celebrate the 25th birthday of the G-Shock brand. The MR. G MRG-8000G is gold accents and only 200 will be made available. This explains the rather high price of 525,000 Yen (~$5,000).
