Portable TV Watch Available in Japanese Contest wrist Future Tech wrist watch geek wrist watch Oddly enough, the "TV wristwatch" concept is not as unusual as it sounds. They date back to the beginning of WristDreams, a couple years ago. However, we haven't seen a watch with a built-in TV tuner that looks quite as bulky and heavy as this latest one from Japan.

I can't read Japanese, so I can only go by what Engadget says about this, and according to them the watch is currently only being offered as part of a contest. Seems you can win one just by buying Japanese beer. It's too bad Americans don't need any such incentive to get drunk.

You can apparently also use it as a cell phone (just insert the SIM card and you're ready to go), though I'm having a tough time picturing exactly how you would have to hold it. With the 2.4 inch screen, you'd probably have no trouble seeing exactly what's on, though it may be difficult to make out any text, such as sports scores, and with seemingly no headphone jack, I can't imagine where it would be useful to have the sound turned up.
