These are unquestionably the most unusual watches I've ever seen. It's not because they're oddly shaped or have some kind of weird technology, but rather because of what is displayed on them. For example, you've got the Avidas, which tells you how stressed out you are. Then there's the Fallax, a wrist-worn polygraph. Who doesn't need one of those?
Of course, my personal favorite is the Inveratus, which keeps track of time by telling you what's currently on TV. Oh, my. Look at the time -- it's a quarter past Moesha. I gotta go.
Anyone who spends some amount of time here at Wrist Dreams probably knows that I have an affliction for watches that really make you think to figure out the time. That's why I own a TIX clock for my bedroom. It helps to wake up my brain.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be interested by this watch, which displays the time in morse code. You can take a trip back into the 1890's with this perfect blend of new and old technology. And, if you want a jolt back into the 21st Century, there is a mode that just displays the time digitally.
Oddly enough, the "TV wristwatch" concept is not as unusual as it sounds. They date back to the beginning of WristDreams, a couple years ago. However, we haven't seen a watch with a built-in TV tuner that looks quite as bulky and heavy as this latest one from Japan.
I can't read Japanese, so I can only go by what Engadget says about this, and according to them the watch is currently only being offered as part of a contest. Seems you can win one just by buying Japanese beer. It's too bad Americans don't need any such incentive to get drunk.
Japanese online watch store Tokyoflash informed us about a new uniquely styled wristwatch from Eleeno.
The Bingo by EleeNo features takes its inspiration from a Bingo card. The all black watch face features dots showing the time. This Japanese watch is simpler to read the most of the LED watches we reported about. Simpler also means that you only can approximately the minutes. The Bingo only has for dots for the hour (0,15,30,45). The indicator is visible though between those four dots.
Chinese mp3 player maker Aigo takes a stab on a wristwatch portable media player.
The Aigo F029 features a color OLED display with 160x128px resolution. The media watch plays MP3, WMA-DRM audio files and MP4 video.
There will be a 512MB and 1GB F029 available.
Hong Kong based A&A Product CP., LTD. offers the FiT188 Breathalyzer wristwatch.
After we have seen the Siemens Alcohol tester mobile phone a couple of years ago, it was just a matter of time that some company would integrate a alcohol tester into a wristwatch.
The Breathalyzer watch detects alcohol levels between 0.2 ~ 1.5%oBAC. The watch also measures ambient temperature with a range of -19.9-70 degree Celsius.
CABANE de ZUCCA is an Issey Miyake group label. The Japanese designer label offers a couple of interesting fashion wrist watches including the Eye Patch.
The watches are actually manufactured by Seiko. The Eye Patch comes in white or yellow.
Hong Kong's Brando shop is selling the CABANE de ZUCCA Eye Patch for $205 internationally.
There is not a lot of information available about the Sega Dreamcast watch. The watch resembles a Sega Dreamcast game console. The dial is hidden behind the "disc cover" which can be opened on the watch like on the game console.
Japanese game exporter Play-Asia is offering the Sega Dreamcast Wristwatch for pre-order for $129.90. The Dreamcast watch is supposedly shipping September 29th. Availability is limited.
Japanese Watch designer PIMP released another very cool and unique wristwatch - the Jive Turkey.
The Pimp Turkey Jive features a very psychedelic animated display generated by 60 LED's inside this watch.
Quote from the Tokyo Flash site:
"
The infinity effect is nothing less than awesome. In the bar I visited last night I had 3 different girls come over to ask me about the watch and the bartender even gave me a free beer when I let him try the watch for a while. Now that's what I call Pimpin!"
The watch is made of 100% SOLID high grade stainless steel.
Japanese Watch Exporter Tokyo Flash sells the Turkey Jive for a very affordable $135.51.
The Fossil Bluetooth watch is currently the coolest technology wristwatch. It will only be topped by the SMS Technology GSM Mobile Watch, once that one will be released.
The Fossil FX6001 analog watch displays incoming phone calls on a small OLED display (96x16 pixel). The FX6001 can vibrate when a call comes in or SMS/MMS.
The Fossil FX6001 sells for $249.00 on Fossil.com.
