Tag Heuer Shows Off Calibre 360's Timekeeping Precision Apparently TAG Heuer is so proud of its Carrera Calibre 360 watch and its amazing precision that they decided to show it off in a very interesting way. They sent 10 European watch journlists to an F1 race and allowed them to use the Cal 360 to become "official timekeepers" for Team McLaren Mercedes.

They even made a contest out of it. From the press release: "The contest organized between journalists was a testimonial to the interest of the 1/100 of a second in manual timing, and to the unique accuracy of the Calibre 360. The 2 winners were at 5/100th from the official electronics timing system!"

The Movado With Lots of Bravado Okay. So there's no fancy technology built in to this new Mavado watch, the 800, but it is certainly a symbol of wealth, or of someone who blew two months' rent to buy a watch. It comes with either a steel or rubber band, which reminds me of my first watch in college (I had to hold it together with a rubber band).

Apparently the big selling point for this piece is that Tom Brady (the NFL player, not the classic TV dad) has been sporting it and has nothing but good things to say about this expensive watch.

Nooka's Zen-V Watch I've always loved clocks and watches that require a little brainpower to figure out what time it is. I guess that's why I have a soft spot for Nooka (most famous for their Zot watch). Their newer line is the Zen line, and the Zen-V is a real conversation piece.

There are three "bars" on the watch. The first two have six ticks each, and they represent the hour (e.g. all six ticks marked on the left-most bar and two ticks on the middle bar is 8:00). The third bar is more of a gauge/thermometer type of readout, with markings next to it from 0 to 60, and that tells you the minutes portion of the time. Luckily, to make things a little simpler, the seconds are shown in a simple digital display on the right side of the watch.

Suunto X9i - World's Smallest GPS Watch Suunto has with the X9i a more compact GPS wristwatch on the market than the latest Garmin Forerunner.

Besides helping you plot your route, the X9i GPS computer indicates the direction of an upcoming waypoint, calculates the remaining distance, and estimates the arrival time. This compact GPS watch also shows the current speed and distance traveled. Of course it would be nice if the watch actually would show maps like Car GPS systems. I guess for that we still have to wait a couple of years.

The Suunto X9i sells on Amazon.com for a low $349.99.

Namco Releases Very Limited Edition Pac-Man WatchThe official Namco swag store, Club Namco, recently added a special edition watch commemorating everyone's favorite character inspired by a partially-eaten pizza, Pac-Man. It's being sold exclusively through Club Namco, and they're only releasing 500 of them, which means they either want to make this a real conversation piece for those who get it, or they just don't plan on selling many.

The watch features Pac-Man chomping down the seconds as they pass, with his ghostly nemeses trapped in the middle of the watch face. Apparently it's limited-edition gamer watch season...Pokemon has a special 10th Anniversary Watch that's going on sale at the end of the month.

New Watch Company: Scorpion There's a pretty cool-looking watch from a brand new company, Scorpion. Their vision is "to deliver quality and function with an emphasis on originality and attitude." It certainly looks like they're achieving that with their flagship watch, the Reef Diver. They plan to only release "limited edition" watches with "only the best components".

They're already taking pre-orders for their $799 Reef Diver, even though it seems they have no retail partners yet and no secure online payment form. You can pay via money order, cashier's check, wire transfer, and Paypal.

Fossil Presents Pokemon 10th Anniversary Watch It's 10 years ago that a furry yellow mouse introduced the world to the word "Pikachu". In celebration, there's a whole line of 10th anniversary merchandise at PokemonCenter.com. You've got pillows, figures, and tee-shirts, but the sign that you're a true Pokemon fan is the limited edition watch created by Fossil.

With a gray face and partial white silhouette of the famous Pikachu, this watch is obviously more about making a statement than it is cutesy cartoon style. Each watch will come numbered with a certificate of authenticity.

Astronomical Watch Helps You Find Constellations Wristwatch Watches Wristwatches timepiece watch clock wrist Future Tech wrist watch geek wrist watch Sure, you can have one of those fancy wrist-worn PCs or a watch with Bluetooth capabilities, but this watch has a feature that's a little bit different. There is a built-in mini planisphere directly on the watch face that shows you a guide to all the constellations in the sky.

The visualization changes dynamically depending on the date. Since your location obviously is a big factor as well, the watch only works if you're in North America. In addition, it sports a compass as well so you know exactly which direction to be looking to find the celestial bodies.
