The Mio Shape Select monitors the heart rate with a patented technology. By placing two fingers on the MioSensors located on the wristwatch face the ECG accurate heart rate is measured. The Mio Shape Select watches are not continuously measuring the heart rate like watches with straps do, but sure is more comfortable. Besides heart rate the Mio watch is also tracks calories burned during exercise.
