Tag Heuer celebrates the 40th birthday of the original Tag Heuer Monaco. At the BaselWorld 2009 Tag Heuer already unveiled several new Tag Heuer Monaco wrist watches. Now the added yet another one with the new Tag Heuer Monaco LS.

The Monaco LS has several aspects of the cool Monaco 360 and Monaco V4 concepts from the past years.

BaselWorld 2009 is over and it held its own in these tough economic times. The visitor number only fell 12% from the record setting BaselWorld 2008. 93,900 visitors from all over the planet have been visiting the biggest watch tradeshow. The Bosses of the luxury watch makers are also pleased with the BaselWorld 2009.
For Luc Perramond, CEO of Hermès, BASELWORLD was without a doubt much more successful than many had been anticipating in the run-up to the show: “The mood was fantastic. There was a strong media and trade presence which has given our new range excellent coverage.” Jean-Christophe Babin, President of TAG Heuer, stresses this point as follows: “Over the course of one week, we have the attention of the world’s press in Basel – and these media representatives were there yet again in 2009. Therefore, BASELWORLD has once again offered us a fantastic platform where the entire watch industry can get together.”

Harry Winston unveiled the Opus 9 stunning timepiece at the BaselWorld 2009. The hyper luxury watch (see price below) uses two diamond chains to tell the time instead of hands. Each chain is encrusted with 33 baguette cut diamonds. Mandarin colored garnets mark the minutes and hours.
I usually do not like diamond encrusted watches, but the Harry Winston Opus 9 has a stunning minimalist design that is really cool. I even could imagine wearing the Opus 9 if I would be Bill Gates.

Bell & Ross is usually sticking very closely to their established design language for their watches. At the BaselWorld 2009 B&R now unveiled the Instrument BR01 Airborne that features a skull on the dial.
The Bell & Ross Instrument BR01 Airborne is a limited edition of 500 pieces featuring a steel case with black carbon powder coating.

In case you are wondering, the BaselWorld 2009 is still underway (until April 2nd). There is just not that much to report about. The Tag Heuer Monaco fest is still the only really exciting thing from BaselWorld 2009.
Seiko has also announced some new stuff that is at least a bit interesting. The Seiko Ananta unveiled at the BaselWorld 2009 is an exclusive collection of luxury timepieces with Spring Drive and high-grade mechanical movements, targeted at those who truly understand and appreciate fine watchmaking.

2009 marks possibly the year of the most releases of new Tag Heuer Monaco watches. Besides the Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 and the Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition and the Monaco 24 Concept, Tag Heuer unveils at the BaselWorld 2009 also the new Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Gulf Limited Edition.

Similar to the Monaco Calibre 12 the Calibre 12 version of the Monaco Gulf keeps the original look but adds new technology and a crystal back window.

Most likely Tag Heuer has the best story to tell at the BaselWorld 2009. The Swiss Sports and High-tech inspired watch maker celebrates the Monaco watch's 40th birthday. Tag Heuer already unveiled new cool Monaco watches for 2009 including the Monaco Calibre 12, Tag Heuer Monaco Gulf Calibre 12 and the Monaco 1969 Original.
Now at the BaselWorld 2009 Tag Heuer also unveiled a new Monaco concept watch dubbed Monaco 24.

The BaselWorld 2009 is opening its doors today. Breitling will debut the Breitling Chronomat B01 at the BaselWorld calling it the ultimate chronograph.

TX is a sponsor of the Watchmen movie and will unveil at the BaselWorld 2009 an interesting Linear Duo Chronograph dubbed TX Technoluxury TX830.
The TX Technoluxury TX830 Linear Duo is driven by a 6 hand movement that is operated by 4 motors.

Bell & Ross will introduce at the BaselWorld 2009 the new Instrument BR Heritage paying tribute to 1940s airplane instruments.
Taking its inspiration directly from aircraft cockpit instrument panels, the INSTRUMENT collection responds to four fundamental principles: legibility, functionality, precision and reliability. The developments of the INSTRUMENT collection parallel the in-depth technological.

The Bell & Ross INSTRUMENT BR 01 is directly inspired by aircraft cockpit on-board instruments from the 1970’s and the INSTRUMENT BR 03 Type aviation is inspired by 2000's instruments. The new Instrument BR Heritage takes its design from 1940's airplanes.
